Abstract

The phenomenon of divorce has recently witnessed a noticeable spread in Libyan society. Although divorce might serve as a solution to some problems, it often leaves negative psychological effects on the individuals involved, particularly divorced women. This study aimed to explore the differences between divorced and married women in the city of Bani Walid across three specific psychological aspects: self-confidence, social interaction ability, and emotional maturity. The researcher adopted the comparative descriptive approach and utilized a validated psychometric scale (developed by the researcher) to measure these three variables, ensuring its psychometric properties (validity and reliability). The main findings indicated no statistically significant differences between the two groups (divorced and married women) in any of the studied psychological aspects. Based on these results, the study provides a set of recommendations and suggestions for social intervention and future research.
