This study aims to examine the reality of teaching physical education courses at Al-Asmarya Islamic University in light of the evident shortage of material, human, and infrastructural resources. The researcher adopted the descriptive-analytical method, using a questionnaire composed of five dimensions, distributed to a sample of 20 students out of a total of 33 students in the Department of Physical Education.
The results revealed that curricula, faculty members, administrative system, and student relations were available to a relatively acceptable degree, while the dimension of facilities and equipment represented the greatest challenge, showing a severe shortage in playgrounds, halls, and modern teaching tools. The study also indicated a clear gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application among students, which negatively affects the quality of educational outcomes.
Based on these findings, the research concluded that the lack of resources is the main obstacle to improving the teaching of physical education, and that faculty members exert innovative individual efforts that cannot be sustained without institutional support. The study recommended developing sports infrastructure, updating curricula, providing training programs for faculty members, increasing financial support for physical education, in addition to enhancing student activities and fostering cooperation with community institutions.
This research represents a fundamental step towards diagnosing the current situation and proposing practical solutions that contribute to improving the quality of teaching physical education at Al-Asmarya Islamic University
