Strategic leadership practices in promoting organizational sustainability in Libyan banks: A field study at Al-Jumhouria Bank - Tripoli branches

This study aimed to identify the reality of applying strategic leadership practices (represented by: strategic direction, organizational culture, human capital, and ethical practices) and their role in enhancing organizational sustainability (represented by: economic sustainability, social sustainability, environmental sustainability, and institutional sustainability) at Al-Jumhouria Bank – Tripoli branches, Libya.
The study employed a descriptive-analytical approach. Data was collected using a questionnaire specifically designed for this purpose and distributed to a purposive sample of managers at the upper and middle management levels in Al-Jumhouria Bank branches in Tripoli. The sample consisted of (120) managers, and (110) questionnaires were returned and deemed valid for statistical analysis, representing a response rate of (91.7%)،The study concluded with a number of findings, most notably that the application of strategic leadership practices achieved a high rate (73.5%), and that the achievement of organizational sustainability was also high (75.8%). A strong positive correlation was found between strategic leadership practices and organizational sustainability, with a correlation coefficient of( 0.89. ) Regression analysis revealed that (72.5%) of the change in the level of organizational sustainability is attributable to changes in strategic leadership practices.
The study concluded with recommendations, including the need to strengthen strategic leadership practices within the bank, focus on developing human capital, promote ethical practices, prioritize environmental sustainability, and establish a specialized organizational sustainability unit.
