The Poetry of Zuhair bin Abi Sulma in the Light of Criticism

Abstract

This study aims shed  light on the most important characteristics that distinguished the poetry of Zuhayr ibn Abi Sulma ,which received praise and attention from critics, especially during the lslamic era and later periods.This poet  possessed a distinction unmatched  by other poets of his poetry . Muslims admired his poetry from the very beginning  because it  contained wise sayings and views consistent  with the principles of lslam, in addition to the quality of its style , and his careful  refinement of it .he was even called the ' poet of the hawliyyat"  due to the great care he devoted to revising and  polishing his poems .These  opinions were divided  into two categories :impressionistic and  artistic . in this study ,the researcher followed the inductive approach in analyzing and  studying the  critical texts.
